Peter C. Ng, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.A.S.M.B.S.
Dr. Ng, a Raleigh native, is an expert in minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery and teacher of single-incision and hidden-scar laparoscopic techniques. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a fellow of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Lindsey S. Sharp, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.A.S.M.B.S.
Dr. Sharp, a Virginia native, is the medical director of bariatric surgery services at Rex Healthcare. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery, a fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and a fellow with the American College of Surgeons. He also belongs to the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. Dr. Sharp focuses not only on the weight you lose, but also on the health benefits, confidence and active lifestyle you can gain through bariatric surgery.
Dustin M. Bermudez, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.A.S.M.B.S.
Dr. Bermudez, a native of Massachusetts, is a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and fellow with the American College of Surgeons. He belongs to the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. He has published papers and presented at national meetings about wound healing and weight-loss surgery. Dr. Bermudez looks forward to caring for you long after surgery and seeing you achieve your goals.
Clinton S. Bolton III, Ph.D., LPC, LPC-S, NCC
Dr. Bolton received his Bachelor’s at The University of Florida before completing his Master’s Degree at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then pursued his Ph.D. at North Carolina State University. He has provided mental health services to bariatric patients since 2007 and has been active with the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery in training other mental health professionals on best practices in behavioral health with bariatric patients. Dr. Bolton has a passion for empowering patients and working with them throughout the weight loss journey.

Tricia Burns, P.A.-C. Physician Assistant
Tricia received her undergraduate degree from The College of St. Rose in Albany, NY before completing the Physician Assistant Graduate Program with a surgical focus at Cornell University Weill Medical College in New York. Ms. Burns is an experienced physician assistant with experience in bariatric surgery, plastic surgery and neurosurgery.
Erica Mckearney, P.A.-C. Physician Assistant
Erica an Oregon native, earned her undergraduate degree from Oregon State University. She earned a masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Methodist University in 2011. She worked as a Physician Assistant in urgent care and family practice for five years before joining Rex Bariatric Specialists in 2016. She enjoys reading, hiking, walking her dog, and spending time with her friends and family.
Jillian Vari, P.A.-C., R.D., C.N.S.C. Physician Assistant
Jillian received her undergraduate degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. She earned her masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies from James Madison University. She worked as a Registered Dietitian in bariatric surgery, general medicine, and inpatient surgery for 5 years prior to returning to PA school. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, running, and being outdoors.
Afton Carducci, M.M.S., P.A.-C. Physician Assistant
Afton received her Master of Medical Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Lincoln Memorial University – DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed additional surgery specific training at the WakeMed Surgical Physician Assistant Residency Program in trauma, gastrointestinal surgery, intensive care and orthopaedics. After residency she worked in a surgical practice focused on colorectal and general surgery prior to joining Rex Bariatric Specialists in 2018.
Michelle Wallace, B.S.N., R.N. Bariatric Coordinator
Michelle is a North Carolina native and has a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She has experience in Emergency Medicine, Gastroenterology and Cardiology before joining Rex Bariatrics in June 2019. Michelle enjoys working with patients from their initial consultation, through surgery, and beyond to ensure the resources and support are provided to patients for weight loss success. She enjoys running, coaching and spending time with her family and friends.
Mary Gray Hutchison, M.P.H., R.D., L.D.N. Nutrition Services
Mary is a graduate of NC State University with an advanced degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has been providing nutrition therapy and education in the Raleigh area since 2008. She has been working with weight loss surgery patients for most of her career. She has a passion for facilitating group classes, grocery store tours and cooking demonstrations.

Margaret Bova, M.S., R.D., L.D.N. Nutrition Services
Margaret received her master of science in Nutrition from the University of Pittsburgh. She has provided nutrition counseling within a variety of environments, including a weight loss surgery practice, cardiac rehabilitation, and a dialysis clinic. She enjoys seeing the positive ways that nutrition can impact a person’s life. She moved to Raleigh with her husband, cat, and English bulldog to escape the cold Pittsburgh winters.
Amanda Hopkins, M.S., R.D., L.D.N. Nutrition Services
Amanda is a Penn State graduate and received a Master of Science in Nutrition from Meredith College. She has experience working with patients in the clinical setting and interned with Rex Bariatrics in 2015 while obtaining her master’s degree. She is passionate about helping patients make nutritional and behavioral changes to improve their overall health. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys yoga and experimenting in the kitchen.
