Single Anastomosis Duodeno-ileostomy with Sleeve Gastrectomy is recognized by ASMBS and Blue Cross Blue Shield as a covered bariatric procedure in November 2020.

Rex Surgical Specialists surgeons have presented 8 presentations, video presentations, and posters at Obesity Week, the national meeting of the American Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery in 2018 in Nashville, and Las Vegas in 2019.  Our team is recognized for our work in duodenal switch, revision from duodenal switch to gastric bypass, and SADI-S.

In June 2021, Dr. Sharp will moderate the SADI-S presentations for the ASMBS National Meeting

In May 2019, Dr. Sharp received certification from the board of Obesity Medicine.   He also presented at the ASMBS discussing “Band to Duodenal Switch” outcomes.

At the annual American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) meeting in November 2019, Dr. Ng presented video lectures, teaching innovative technique for the Duodenal Switch and SADI-S procedures. He also served as a faculty presenter for the Stapled Duodenal Ileostomy techniques at the Duodenal Switch Surgeon Course.

Dr. Bermudez has presented poster presentations at the annual ASMBS meetings, in 2016 and 2019, discussing the initial outcomes data on “Revision of Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass to Duodenal Switch” and “Conversion of vertical sleeve gastrectomy to duodenal switch outcomes.”

Linda M. Youngwirth, MD, FACS, FASMBS joins Rex Bariatric Specialist in August 2020 after completing her fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Duke University.
