What is Single Anastomosis Duodeno-ileostomy with Sleeve Surgery? (SADI-S)

The single anastomosis duodeno-ileostomy with sleeve, also known as SADI-S, is performed in two main steps. In the first step, we staple the stomach into a tubular shape, called a vertical sleeve gastrectomy. The detached portion of the stomach is removed. The second step involves divided the small intestine (duodenum) just beyond the sleeve and attaching it to the lower 3 meters of intestine to form a bypass. The connection is called the duodenoileostomy anastomosis. This bypass reduces the absorption of the intestines by approximately 60%.
