Taking the First Step

Weight loss surgery, also known as bariatric or metabolic surgery, offers hope to many people struggling with obesity and its related diseases. Diabetes, hypertension and heart disease, sleep apnea, osteoarthritis, and cancer in many cases share a common underlying cause—obesity.

The attached chart demonstrates the many diseases treated by losing weight and the published rates of resolution with weight loss.

Our surgeons help you adopt the lifestyle changes important to maintaining good health and offer you the most effective operations available to achieve your weight loss goals.

Attend a Seminar

Your first step is to attend a seminar on obesity and weight loss surgery. We offer in-person seminars at both our Rex Bariatric Specialty Center and Rex Healthcare of Wakefield location.

You can also attend our online seminar. Watch the accompanying video and fill out the form that displays afterwards.

Orientation/Nutrition Class

Your first appointment will be an orientation to our program. We will provide an introduction to nutrition for weight loss. This class covers material that will help you ask the right questions when you meet with one of our surgeons. Please complete the attached checklist prior to attending your orientation.

Surgeon Consultation

After your orientation, you will meet with one of our surgeons to go over your medical history and options for surgery.
